The Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner RDC Stephen Bewayo Nsubuga has said Ugandans can only become poor by choice because they waste time in non-profitable activities and should only blame the people they see in the mirror.
Bewayo was yesterday addressing leaders of Bungangari sub-county in Rukungiri district as he sensitized and mobilized them for government’s parish development model.
Ugandans who waste time in non profitable activities and end up poor should blame the people in the mirror’ RDC Bewayo Nsubuga .
He said over the years, the government has introduced several poverty eradication interventions like Etandikwa , Emyooga , Naads ,youth livelihood, UWEP , and the current parish development model but people have misused them.
He said the government will start arresting those that will be still poor by 2025.
The security minister who doubles as the Rujumbura member of Parliament Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi told the people of Bungangari that the Parish Development Model program is meant to uplift 39% of Ugandans from the subsistence to money economy
Minister Muhwezi also used the occasion to rally teachers to go back to school saying they should bear with the government as it helped them and kept paying their salaries during the covid 19 lockdown
