Residents of Kebisoni Town Council in Rukungiri District have welcomed the opening of a new petrol station, Max Oils, describing it as a timely investment that will improve safety, service delivery, and local economic activity.

Presiding over the opening, the Very Rev. Amatsiko Niwegariho, Dean of Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano in North Kigezi Diocese, used the occasion to call for stronger government regulation of petroleum sales. He cautioned against the widespread practice of selling and storing petroleum in plastic containers, noting the serious fire risks associated with improper handling. Rev. Amatsiko emphasized that petroleum should be stored in designated underground facilities to prevent accidents and protect lives.

The proprietor of Max Oils, Max Muhereza, said the station aims to provide quality and reliable fuel to the community. He also appealed to government authorities to address frequent power outages, which he said disrupt electricity-dependent operations and increase business costs.

Local leaders praised the investment for its positive impact on the area. Isaac Bitwire, the GISO for Buyanja Sub-county, commended the proprietor for developing what was previously considered an insecure, dark spot, saying the station has improved visibility and safety.

Area LC1 Chairperson Katamba Richard pledged community support and collaboration with the new station, highlighting the availability of hydroelectric power and piped water to further support development around the facility.

Community members also expressed appreciation. Boda boda rider Mondo Posiano welcomed the station for providing accessible, quality fuel, while residents Mzee Matsiko Christopher and Turyamureba David said the investment would raise living standards and stimulate economic activity in Kebisoni.

The opening of Max Oils marks a significant step toward improved service provision and development in Kebisoni Town Council, with residents hopeful it will inspire further investment in the area.
