As Christians across Kabale Municipality marked the festive season, religious and civic leaders called upon residents to celebrate Christmas in ways that foster hope, compassion, and responsibility.

Rev. Fr. Christmas Austin, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral Parish, highlighted the spiritual meaning of Christmas, urging believers to be a source of light and positive change in their families and communities. Presiding over the first Christmas Mass at Rushoroza Cathedral, Fr. Austin emphasized that the celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth should extend beyond personal joy to practical acts of kindness, such as supporting the needy, promoting unity, and spreading love.

“Christmas symbolizes light, peace, and renewal. Let us carry this light of hope into our daily lives and touch the lives of those around us,” Fr. Austin said.

Beyond spiritual guidance, civic leaders also encouraged residents to act responsibly during the festive season. Kabale District LCV Chairperson Nelson Nshangabasheija reminded families, particularly parents, to spend wisely and prioritize savings for children returning to school in February. He further urged citizens to verify their voter registration, obtain national IDs, and prepare to participate in the forthcoming general elections, stressing that civic engagement is a key part of responsible citizenship.

Other local leaders, including Kabale Municipality mayoral candidate Ronald Mugisha Ian and NRM Southern Division Chairperson Hilda Kedembe, echoed the call for love, hope, and responsible celebration, emphasizing the importance of community solidarity during the holidays.

By blending spiritual reflection with practical advice on family welfare and civic duty, leaders in Kabale encouraged residents to embrace a Christmas that uplifts both hearts and communities.
