Residents in Kayonza sub-county, Ntungamo district, are expressing deep concerns about inadequate service delivery in their area, attributing the issues to the negligence of their district leaders. They claim that the remote location, situated on the border between Rushenyi county and Rukiga district, leaves them consistently overlooked.
The residents highlight numerous challenges in their community, including poor roads, lack of electricity, the deplorable state of government schools, and unreliable telephone networks. Councilor Faith Owarimpa, representing Kijubwe parish, states that these issues persist due to the apparent indifference of district authorities towards the people of Kayonza.
Councilor Owarimpa stresses that the neglect from district leaders has resulted in a myriad of difficulties, hindering service delivery and impeding local development. The residents are now urging authorities to prioritize Kayonza sub-county and address its needs with the same level of attention afforded to other sub-counties and town councils.
Richard Turyahabwe, a resident of Mushasha village, cites the challenges faced by local banana farmers who struggle to access markets due to poor roads. He laments the difficulty in obtaining health services, noting that the nearby health center lacks staff, medicine, and is in a state of disrepair.
Richard emphasizes the urgent need for district authorities to consider the unique challenges faced by Kayonza sub-county and take proactive measures to improve the situation.
