Ivan Machari, a football player from the Chahafi town council football team, has been handed a two-year ban from participating in football and related activities by the Kisoro District Football Association (KDFA) due to acts of indiscipline.

The ban was imposed following a contentious match between Kanaba Sub County and Chahafi town council in the ongoing Bufumbira East’s 2023 football tournament, Twese Turibamwe, at Kabami Playground in Chahafi town council. Chahafi emerged victorious with a one-goal lead.

Sunday Andrew, the Chairperson of KDFA, emphasized the association’s commitment to taking a firm stance against undisciplined players who incite chaos during and after matches. The decision to ban Machari reflects the association’s dedication to maintaining order and sportsmanship in the tournament.

Hon. Dr. James Nsaba Buturo, the Bufumbira East Legislator and sponsor of the tournament, expressed disappointment in individual players displaying poor sportsmanship. He highlighted the importance of respect from participants for the success of the Twese Turibamwe tournament.

The grand finale of the tournament is set to take place at Mashaka Playground on December 26th, where each participating team will be duly recognized and rewarded for their efforts.
