Former North Kigezi Diocesan Secretary Rev Canon Gershom Muhanga has urged Boda Boda riders to solemnize their unions and responsibly raise children for a prosperous family future. His remarks were made during the Annual General Meeting of Kyamakanda Boda Boda Association in Buyanja Town Council, Rukungiri District, on Thursday, December 13, 2023.

Rev Canon Gershom Muhanga emphasized the Boda Boda industry’s significant population and its potential for economic growth. He stressed the importance of stable families achieved through marital commitments, nurturing relationships, educating children, and effective planning.

Julius Kahigiriza, Vice Chairperson of Rukungiri District Boda Boda Association, applauded the financial discipline of Association members, boasting a loan portfolio exceeding 208 million. He challenged members to consider retirement planning, establish income-generating projects, avoid misconduct, support religion and education, and adhere to traffic rules to maintain a positive reputation.

Magezi Emmanuel, also known as Vet, the Chairperson of Greater Buyanja Boda Boda riders, urged adherence to the District constitution for cleanliness and called for the election of a Boda Boda representative in Parliament. Tumusiime Julius, Chairperson of Kyamakanda Boda Boda stage, expressed appreciation for the cooperative efforts among members, highlighting a loan portfolio exceeding 208 million and the initiation of legal marriage ceremonies. Plans to empower women and establish their association were also revealed.

Kenneth Kamugisha, Ara Chairperson LC1, commended the discipline of Boda Boda riders, urging them to avoid family violence. He encouraged mutual respect between spouses to contribute collectively to family development.

Niwenyesiga Loyce Ngabirano expressed gratitude for the Lord’s protection of Boda Boda riders on the road and acknowledged husbands for supporting homestead projects. She emphasized women’s readiness to support their husbands in building a united and prosperous family.
