Residents of Kanyankwanzi cell in Eastern Ward Bukurungu Town Council, Rukungiri district, have called upon the police to investigate the suspicious death of a 9-year-old boy. The deceased child, Arineitwe Heaven, was the son of Rukundo Jordern, and both of them lived at the same address.
According to information provided by the local council one chairperson, Mr. Turyatunganga Fred, received a phone call on Sunday, November 5, 2023, around 7:42 PM. The call was from locals who informed him that the residents had gathered at the home of Rukundo Jordan upon hearing of the sudden and mysterious death of his son. The child had been in good health throughout the day and had spent the day playing with friends from the neighborhood. However, in the evening, shortly after having dinner, he began to vomit excessively and tragically passed away before they could rush him to a nearby clinic for medical attention.
This alarming incident raised concerns among the local residents who suspected that the deceased child might have consumed poisoned food, leading to his untimely demise. They also mentioned that, back in August of the same year, a younger sibling of the deceased had also died under mysterious circumstances.
This previous incident prompted them to involve the police before burying the child to determine what might be causing these tragic deaths.
As of the time of reporting this story on Monday morning, the residents were still gathered at the home of the deceased child’s father, awaiting the police to conduct a postmortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.
