President Yoweri Museveni is set to embark on a mobilization tour in the Ankole sub-region to assess the progress of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and educate the public on strategies to eradicate poverty and transition into the money economy.

The announcement was made by the State Minister for Investment and Privatization, Hon. Evelyn Anite, while addressing local leaders from Ankole at Mbarara City Council offices in Boma, Mbarara City North Division.

According to Anite, the tour will begin with visits to selected farmers in Rubirizi, Sheema, and Ibanda districts to evaluate their progress under the PDM initiative.

On Wednesday, President Museveni will visit and commission the Presidential Skilling Hub in Rushozi Parish, Rubaya Sub-County, Kashari South, Mbarara District. Later, he is expected to meet with leaders from the Ankole sub-region at Bushenyi Main Stadium.

The following day, he will address a public gathering at Mwizi Primary School in Rwampara District before concluding his tour with a live media interaction on February 28, 2025.

Hon. Bataringaya Bazil Rwankwene, the Chairperson of the Ankole Parliamentary Caucus and MP for Kashari North, Mbarara District, urged the public to continue supporting President Museveni’s initiatives. He commended the government’s efforts in poverty eradication, citing programs such as Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) and PDM. He noted that poverty levels, which stood at 68% in 2022, have since declined to 39%, with further improvements expected.
