The territorial police in Rukiga have apprehended two suspects in connection with the alleged murder of Claudio Oworinawe, a 62-year-old resident of Kabimbiri cell, Kyerero parish, Bukinda sub-county, Rukiga district.
The suspects are identified as Byarugaba Christopher, 42 years old, a mason residing in Kabimbiri cell, Kyerero parish, Bukinda sub-county, Rukiga district, and Tumwijukye Fausta, 51 years old, residing in Kyumbungu cell, Bugarama parish, Kaharo sub-county, Kabale district.
Reportedly, on the night of June 25, 2024, around 21:00 hours, the deceased returned home after consuming alcohol and entered her house to sleep. At an unspecified time later that night, the suspects allegedly entered her house and engaged in a physical altercation that resulted in her death.
The incident is believed to be linked to ongoing land disputes between the parties, which are already under investigation by relevant authorities, including the police land desk.
Law enforcement officials visited the crime scene to gather evidence, and the body of the deceased was transported to Kabale Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. The two suspects have been detained to aid further investigations, which are currently ongoing.
