The territorial police in Rukungiri are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an adult male identified as Ronald.
The incident occurred on June 26, 2024, around 02:30 pm at Kasoroza cell, Kigaga parish, Nyakagyeme sub-county, Rukungiri district.
According to reports, on the same day around 16:46hrs, Sergeant Mabwijano Posiano of Nyakagyeme police station received information alleging that Ronald had attacked his aunt, Mary Bahekire, with whom he resided in Rwebikona trading center, Kasoroza cell.
Subsequently, enraged residents pursued Ronald, using stones and sticks to assault him. Police from Nyakagyeme responded to the scene to intervene, but Ronald tragically passed away before he could be transported to a hospital.
The crime scene has been processed, witness statements recorded, and the body of Ronald has been taken to Rwakabengo HC III mortuary for postmortem examination. Meanwhile, Mary Bahekire, the alleged victim of the initial attack, is currently receiving medical treatment at Nyakibale Hospital.
The investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
