Governance, Peace, and Security expert Mr. Mujuni Lawrence Mpitsi has urged the residents of Rubabo to actively engage with government poverty eradication programs as a means to stimulate development and tackle unemployment challenges in their locality.

Speaking with locals at Kings Guest House in Nyakishenyi sub-county, Rukungiri district on Monday, Mujuni emphasized the importance of embracing initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), highlighting their dual role in alleviating poverty and generating employment opportunities. He encouraged the people of Rubabo to wholeheartedly participate in these programs.

Furthermore, Mpitsi announced his intention to run for the Rubabo MP seat in the 2026 elections, pledging to prioritize development in the area regardless of religious, political, or any other affiliations. His vision focuses on enhancing education standards, agricultural practices, healthcare services, and transportation infrastructure, among other sectors.

During the gathering, residents voiced their concerns about various challenges plaguing the area, including inadequate healthcare services, poor road conditions, and the deteriorating state of government schools.

An anonymous resident expressed disillusionment with past leaders, noting a pattern of neglect following electoral cycles. They highlighted a disconnect between elected officials and the community, with promises often left unfulfilled and communication neglected.
