Rukungiri Municipality legislator, Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, urged the youth to consider embracing vocational training as a solution to the high levels of unemployment plaguing Uganda.
He conveyed this message during a Sunday service at Rukungiri Mission Church in the Eastern division of Rukungiri Municipality. During the service, he delivered 30 bags of cement to the church authorities, fulfilling a pledge made during their fundraising ceremony held in September the previous year.
The funds were intended to support the construction of their skilling center.
Dr. Rutahigwa emphasized that vocational training equips Ugandans with the necessary knowledge and skills to become job creators rather than job seekers. He expressed gratitude to the church for contributing to the establishment of skilling and vocational centers, promoting affordable vocational education for Ugandans.
The legislator underscored the importance of fulfilling pledges as a politician, noting that timely fulfillment is crucial for community transformation and effective service delivery. Additionally, he donated 10 more bags of cement towards the renovation of the Rukungiri Revival Mission in preparation for the Christmas festival. He pledged continuous support to the church and others, highlighting the need for politicians to uphold their commitments.
Pastor Osbert Turyahebwa, Joseph, and Emelinda Kamusiime, representing the Christians of Rukungiri Revival Mission Church, expressed their gratitude to the legislator for delivering on his pledge of cement. They acknowledged that the contribution would facilitate the continuation of the construction of their skilling center. Allen Okello, speaking on behalf of Bishop Grace Michael Okello, emphasized the positive impact the skilling center would have on the people of Rukungiri and extended thanks to the legislator for his ongoing support in the construction process.
