The Member of Parliament for Rubabo County, Hon. Namanya Naboth, expressed dissatisfaction with the Ministry of Education and Sports during a consultation meeting on Thursday, 1st February 2024. The meeting was organized to prepare for the official opening of Kebisoni Seed Secondary School on 5th February 2024 at the school premises in Nyeibingo Parish, Kebisoni Sub County, Rukungiri District.
Hon. Namanya Naboth raised concerns about the Ministry awarding contracts for school infrastructure without consulting local leaders. He highlighted the confusion caused by contractors and emphasized the importance of consulting Members of Parliament and district officials for effective monitoring.
During the meeting chaired by Charles Kahanyi, the LC3 Chairperson of Kebisoni Sub County, Hon. Namanya Naboth cautioned the authorities at Kebisoni Seed Secondary School to prioritize transparency. He also urged parents to promptly fulfill the necessary requirements to ensure the smooth operations of the school.
Notably, it was observed that the school’s laboratory was empty despite the Ministry delivering laboratory equipment to the district. Hon. Namanya Naboth instructed the district authorities to address this issue before the students’ reporting date.
The meeting, under the leadership of Charles Kahanyi, made a resolution to empower the proposed Board members committee to collaborate with the head teacher in preparations for the students’ reporting on Monday, 5th February 2024.
Additionally, the head teacher, Kellen Charity Kyomugisha, disclosed that the school had registered 74 students for Senior One, 38 students for Senior Two, and 12 students for Senior Three.
