Hon. Wilson Kajwengye, the Member of Parliament for Nyabushozi County, has issued a stern warning against sexual abuse, particularly the defilement of minors. He urged authorities to impose severe punishments on perpetrators and those who protect them.

The MP made these remarks during a recent visit to Rwemikunyu Primary School in Rwabarata Parish, Sanga Sub-county. He expressed deep concern over the increasing number of cases involving older men preying on young girls.

“It’s shameful to see a 25-year-old man involved with a 13-year-old girl when older women are available,” Kajwengye stated. “We must protect our children and hold offenders accountable.”

The headteacher of Rwemikunyu Primary School, Mugizi Tinka Nicholus, echoed the MP’s concerns, highlighting the devastating impact of sexual abuse on young girls. He urged parents, local leaders, and law enforcement to work together to address this issue.

Tinka also appealed to the government for additional resources to construct two classrooms and provide desks to accommodate the growing number of students. He emphasized the importance of creating a conducive learning environment.

Kajwengye highlighted the potential of Nyabushozi County’s fertile land for agriculture and livestock farming. He encouraged teachers to incorporate practical skills, such as gardening, into the curriculum to empower students and promote self-reliance.
