Rev. Fr. Lawrence Tukamushaba, a member of the White Fathers under the Missionaries of Africa, has urged parents to honor the memory of St. Nicholas by offering gifts to their children as a sign of love and dedication to his counsel.
Fr. Tukamushaba, originally from Muko Parish in Kabale Diocese and currently serving in the Archdiocese of Lusaka in Zambia, made this appeal during his homily at the morning Mass held on Thursday, December 6, 2024, at Nyakibale Catholic Parish in Rukungiri Municipality.
Delivering his sermon, Fr. Tukamushaba reflected on the values exemplified by St. Nicholas, highlighting his dedication to love and guidance for children. He encouraged parents to emulate these virtues by preparing meaningful gifts for their children as a gesture of spiritual commitment and an expression of gratitude for St. Nicholas’s intercession.
During his pastoral leave, Fr. Tukamushaba visited missionary-founded churches and spent time with families, including the household of Edward Byamukama at Rwamuhima Catholic Church in Kabale Diocese. Edward’s son, Edgar Karugaba, is currently enrolled in pastoral work, and Fr. Tukamushaba prayed for his success and commitment to the Church.
Edward Byamukama expressed his blessings and gratitude for his son’s journey in the priesthood and looked forward to witnessing his ordination in the near future.
The Mass underscored the significance of nurturing children’s spiritual growth and fostering acts of kindness, inspired by the legacy of St. Nicholas.
