The Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Honorable Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira, has urged district residents to embrace income-generating ventures as a means to combat poverty.

Hon. Atwakiire made this statement yesterday at the Thanksgiving Mass for Rev. Fr. Christopher Niwagaba, held at Rwene Primary School in Buhara Sub County, Kabale District. Rev. Fr. Niwagaba is one of six deacons recently ordained into the priesthood at Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral by Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, the Bishop of Kabale Diocese.

Hon. Atwakiire emphasized the importance of households owning income-generating ventures to achieve stable well-being. She pledged to continue empowering households in the district to help them rise out of poverty.

In recent years, Hon. Atwakiire has donated piglets and chickens to women and goats to the Muslim community to support household development. She now plans to extend her projects to include churches, men, and youth across the district as part of her strategy to combat poverty.
