Mzee Sylvester Ndazororera was laid to rest on Monday in Kanungu district. He was the father of Dr. Siliva Arineitwe, the Deputy Managing Director of the National Water Sewerage Corporation, who is poised to run for the Rukiga district woman MP seat in 2026.
Mzee Sylvester passed away on March 26, 2024, after a prolonged battle with lung cancer. The funeral service, which drew thousands of mourners, took place at St. James Catholic Church in Rutooma, Kambuga, Kanungu district.
During the service, mourners spoke of the deceased as hardworking, visionary, and passionate about community development and education.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, the Bishop of Kabale Diocese laid a foundation stone at the science block of St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School Rutooma in Kambuga Kanungu district.
Mzee Sylvester, who hailed from Kabura, Muyumbu Kyanamira sub-county in Kabale district but later settled in Kanungu district, lived to the age of 91.
He initially worked in the medical field before pursuing law and serving as a court clerk until his retirement.
Prominent figures in attendance at the funeral included Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa, Inspector General of Government Betty Kamya, Members of Parliament from Western Uganda, and LC 5 Chairpersons.
He is survived by his wife and five children, comprising two sons and three daughters.
