Police in Bushenyi District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of a 35-year-old man who was found hanging in Rwengyeya village, Karaaro Parish, Kyeizooba sub-county, Bushenyi district on Easter day.

Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi Police, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as David Magyezi, a 35-year-old resident of the aforementioned address.

According to reports, on March 30, 2024, at approximately 6:00 PM, the deceased returned home intoxicated and allegedly assaulted his mother, Jadres Kasumari, aged 65, and his sister, Shallon Baketenga, aged 23, with a machete, inflicting severe injuries on them.

Joseph Tutebemberwa, aged 38, the village chairman LC.I of Rwengyeya, reported the incident to the police, stating that immediately after the attack, the deceased fled to an unknown location.

However, the deceased’s body was discovered hanging from a eucalyptus tree by a herdsman, who promptly alerted the local authorities.

Tumusiime added that the victims are currently receiving treatment at Doctor’s Clinic in Rwentuha town council for the serious lacerations they sustained.
