Benson Turamye, the Executive Director of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority, emphasized their commitment to transforming Ruhinda Sub-county into a model community within Rukungiri district. Speaking at a fundraising event at Kashenyi Archdeaconry, aimed at completing the construction of the Archdeacon’s house valued at 109 million, Turamye highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Abanya Ruhinda ba Rujumbura association in supporting various development projects in the sub-county. These initiatives include aiding church construction, educational advancements such as school construction, and enhancing healthcare services.

Turamye also noted the association’s previous contribution towards purchasing a vehicle for Kashenyi Archdeaconry, underscoring their ongoing commitment to collective progress alongside other Christian groups.

At the same event, Minister Jim Muhwezi, representing Rujumbura County, commended the contributions of Abanya Ruhinda ba Rujumbura towards local development, urging the community to embrace the parish development model as a means to uplift themselves economically and eradicate poverty. Muhwezi further demonstrated his support by contributing 32 million towards completing the roofing of the Archdeacon’s house.

Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe of North Kigezi Diocese encouraged Christians to emulate the spirit of giving, emphasizing that generosity towards God and others leads to greater blessings. He emphasized the principle of receiving according to one’s giving.

Ven James Busigye, the Archdeacon of Kashenyi Archdeaconry, expressed gratitude to all contributors, acknowledging the significant progress made through the funds raised. With over 62 million collected at the fundraiser, they now have the resources to overcome the construction hurdle they faced at the wall plate stage.
