Model farmers in Bushenyi District have called upon Ugandans to embrace farming as a pathway to wealth creation, especially under the 4-Acre Land Presidential Initiative. The appeal was made on May 13, 2025, by Muhanguzi Isaac, Director of Kabeihura Mixed Farm, and fellow model farmer John Karemera, during a study tour by Kebisoni Sub County leaders from Rukungiri District.

The leaders from Kebisoni Sub County conducted a one-day educational visit and a distant council session to pass their 2025/2026 budget estimates. The tour aimed to gain practical knowledge in dairy farming, poultry, piggery, fisheries, goat rearing, banana plantations, and value addition practices—insights intended to transform agricultural productivity in their communities.

Muhanguzi Isaac emphasized the need to overcome negative attitudes towards farming, urging farmers to embrace passion, use quality inputs, and ensure proper animal feeding to increase yields. Similarly, John Karemera linked poor farming mindsets to a lack of research, overdependence on professionalism, risk aversion, and disregard for expert advice, calling for a comprehensive mindset shift.

Charles Kahanyi, LC3 Chairperson of Kebisoni Sub County, lauded the visit and encouraged participants to apply the knowledge at the household level while serving as community role models. His Kyamuhunga counterpart, Adolf Kanyomozi, appreciated Kebisoni leaders for choosing Kyamuhunga for the tour and stressed the importance of utilizing the acquired skills.

District Speaker Turyamubona James praised the initiative for enlightening the council and urged for stricter enforcement of coffee trade regulations to curb the rising theft and premature harvesting of coffee.

During the council session, George Byaruhanga Ruraka, Secretary for Finance and Production, presented the 2025/2026 budget estimates, focusing on education, infrastructure, and office management.

In a show of continued cooperation, Kebisoni and Kyamuhunga Sub Counties resolved to routinely share council sessions to strengthen learning and development between their administrations.
