Police in Rubirizi District have launched investigations into a tragic incident in which a 30-year-old man was lynched by an angry mob for allegedly murdering his wife.
The incident occurred on April 21, 2025, at around noon at Kashaka Landing Site, Katunguru Sub-County in Rubirizi District.
Greater Bushenyi Region Police spokesperson Marcial Tumusiime confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Benard Musinguzi, also known as “Master,” a resident of the area.
It is alleged that Musinguzi stabbed his wife, Mackline Ninsiima, to death, prompting residents to take matters into their own hands. He was reportedly attacked and killed by the mob shortly afterward.
According to Lilian Mugume, 34, the Rubirizi District Criminal Investigations Department officer who reported the matter to police, Musinguzi’s body was discovered some distance from his home, bearing multiple injuries to the head.
Police say the body was taken to Rugazi Health Centre IV for a post-mortem examination as investigations into the double tragedy continue.
