Police in Mitooma District have launched an investigation into the murder of a middle-aged man under unclear circumstances.
The incident occurred during the night of December 7, 2024, at an unspecified time in Nyamiyaga 1 Village, Kirembe Parish, Katenga Sub-county, Mitooma District.
According to Deus Tumwesigye, 59, the Local Council I (L.C I) chairperson of Nyamiyaga Village, who reported the case to the police, the deceased had multiple cut wounds on the head, face, and left arm.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, confirmed the incident. He noted there were signs of a struggle at the scene of the crime, but no personal items or documents were found on the body.
Tumusiime revealed that a police sniffer dog was deployed at the scene but failed to track any leads. He added that the deceased appeared to have been attacked and killed at the recovery site. Strangely, the body was found without trousers or shoes, yet the feet were exceptionally clean.
The body of the deceased was transported to Kitagata Hospital mortuary in Sheema District for a post-mortem examination.
