The chairman LCV Ntungamo Samuel Muchunguzi Rwakigoba Salongo has urged the Ministry of ICT and other line ministries to always secure modernized computers to local governments to help the personnel execute their duties expeditiously.
Chairman Muchunguzi noted that most computers in local governments are outdated to perform and exacerbate the risks of getting cancer.
He made remarks on Monday in the district council hall while receiving a set of wireless computers valued at 6M donated by the South Western Institute for Policy and Advocacy (SOWIPA) a nongovernmental organization based in Ntungamo District.
Muchunguzi commended the Executive Director of the South Western Institute for Policy and Advocacy (SOWIPA) Natamba Edward Ssalongo for supporting the district, especially the District community development office.
The Ntungamo District Chief Administrative Officer Ndifuna Matthias appealed to the office of the community to use profitably to the benefit of the office and public but not individuals.
The District community development officer Tusiime Ambrose hailed the South Western Institute for Policy and Advocacy (SOWIPA) for supplementing the government efforts of fostering ICT in the community to ease their work after losing what they had to thieves last year.
Tusiime pledged total commitment to use the donated wireless computer for service delivery.
The Executive Director of South Western Institute for Policy and Advocacy (SOWIPA) Natamba Edward Ssalongo noted that the aim is to restore the lost computers after thugs broke down the office and vanished with computers.
Natamba thanked the Tusiime for lobbying for the computer saying that had it not been for their outcry for the lack of a computer they would not have secured one for the office.
