Hon. Musasizi Henry Aliganyila Omwojo, the State Minister of Finance for General Duties and NRM Chairperson of Rubanda district, has launched a program to distribute hoes in Rubanda East constituency.

These hoes, known as “KYAPA KYANKOOKO,” will be provided to over thirty thousand households, primarily women, to support the government’s efforts in implementing the Parish Development Model (PDM) program.

The purpose of this initiative is to enhance agricultural productivity and boost household incomes by improving yields and ensuring sustainable food security. Each household will receive one hand hoe for this purpose.

The launch event took place in Kashaki cell, Nyamiyaga parish, Bubaare sub-county, Rubanda East constituency, Rubanda district. It was attended by local council leaders, farmers, with a significant presence of female participants.

Minister Musasizi Henry highlighted that the Ugandan Parliament allocated an additional budget of shs 176 billion for the 2023/2024 fiscal year to support district local governments. Each district received one billion shillings for the maintenance of existing roads, which was directly disbursed to the districts.

He emphasized that the parish now serves as a unit for evaluating service delivery and assessing whether it effectively reaches the people.

In addition to the hoe distribution program, Musasizi Henry, who is also the Member of Parliament for Rubanda East, toured and launched the Hamuhambo Town Council Poultry Keepers project. He generously donated shs 5 million to enhance the financial capacity of the poultry project.

During his visit, Minister Musasizi also inspected the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Tibaryebwa Charles, who are engaged in poultry, piggery, and Irish potato farming in Hamuhambo Town Council, Rubanda East constituency.

He urged local council leaders to collaborate with the community in identifying and reporting suspected criminals to the police to safeguard the people’s assets, including those benefiting from government programs.
