The family of Minister of Security Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi has announced their plans to construct the headquarters of the Kasoroza Church of Uganda in Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry, Nyakagyeme Sub-county, Rukungiri District. This initiative is intended as a gesture of gratitude to God for the gift of life.
Leading the construction effort is Canon Susan Muhwezi, the minister’s wife, who herself survived on one kidney after donating the other to her brother, Bob Kabonero, to save his life amidst health challenges.
During a confirmation service at their home church, Kasoroza Church of Uganda, Minister Jim Muhwezi, who also serves as the legislator for Rujumbura County, expressed his gratitude. Bishop Asiimwe, as part of his pastoral tour, officially visited the church.
Minister Muhwezi highlighted his wife’s selfless act of donating her kidney as a testament to love and thanked God for the successful operation in Germany. He mentioned that Susan will oversee the fundraising efforts for the multimillion-dollar church project.
“Justus Bwiita Mujassi, the head of the laity at Kasoroza Church of Uganda, expressed eagerness to collaborate with the minister’s family to expand the church. They aim to accommodate the growing number of Christians and plan to generate income through coffee growing and existing commercial properties in Kasoroza trading center,” said Bwiita.
Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe, accompanied by his wife and clergy, thanked the congregation for their hospitality, particularly Minister Muhwezi, whose dedication extends beyond his official duties to include the construction of a large church.
During the event, 176 Christians reaffirmed their faith, with hundreds more accepting Jesus as their personal savior.
Ven. Elidard Kashanje, the Archdeacon of Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry, assisted in this spiritual journey.
