Police in Sheema District have arrested a 26-year-old businesswoman on allegations of murdering her husband.
The incident occurred on June 23, 2024, around 2:30 PM in Rutooma Cell, Rutooma Ward, Kabwohe Division, Sheema Municipality, Sheema District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the suspect as Fortunate Nuwasiima, a 26-year-old businesswoman residing at the same address.
Tumusiime further identified the deceased as Seith Akamumpa, a 26-year-old builder. According to the information, misunderstandings developed between the couple, leading to the killing.
It is alleged that the suspect and the deceased went to Senevin Gardens to watch musicians and returned home around 4:30 AM. Around 1:00 PM, they had a quarrel that escalated into a fight. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased in the chest with a knife, causing him to collapse.
Edmond Becungura, a 40-year-old builder and resident of Kanwezi Cell, Rutooma Ward, Kabwohe Division, Sheema, said that after the incident, the deceased was rushed to Kabwohe Health Center IV, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Tumusiime stated that a postmortem was conducted at Kabwohe Health Center IV, and the cause of death was established as penetrating chest trauma.
