Major General Jim Muhwezi, the Security Minister and Member of Parliament for Rujumbura County, urged residents to refrain from demanding the Ambulance as they are not responsible for its management. He made this statement on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, while officiating at the fundraising event for Kubumbu SACCO at Bwambara Playground in Bwambara Parish, Bwambara Sub County, Rukungiri District.
Minister Muhwezi reiterated that he recently donated an ambulance to Bwambara Health Center 3, but due to maintenance issues, he had to lobby for another one for Bugangari Health Center 4, serving the entire county.
George Bazahuza, the Archdeacon of Bwambara Archdeaconry, highlighted the developmental strides made by the government in the area and emphasized the need to revitalize Kubumbu SACCO for financial security.
Christopher Kagayano, the Chairperson of LC3 Bwambara Sub County, expressed concern about the stability of Kubumbu SACCO and its role in combating the influence of money lenders. He appealed to the Minister to advocate for the division of Bwambara Sub County into smaller units, provision of Health Center 4, and basic amenities like water and electricity.
Nahabwe Willy Rutabarenga, the Chairperson of the Kubumbu SACCO Board, outlined their vision for providing financial services in agriculture and school fee loans. He urged Hon. Jim Muhwezi to advocate for tax exemptions and financial support from the government to facilitate the SACCO’s steady development over the next five years.
During the event, Peace and Brian Nsiga received a token of appreciation on behalf of the late Patrick Nsiga for their voluntary contributions to sustaining Kubumbu SACCO during challenging times.
The fundraising event successfully raised 13,222,900 shillings.
