Hon. Minister Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, the Security Minister and Member of Parliament for Rujumbura County, has expressed concern over the misconduct of youth, warning that such behavior threatens the future generation.

He made the remarks on Sunday, 20th April 2025, during Easter Sunday celebrations at Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry, Kasoroza Church of Uganda Parish, North Kigezi Diocese, in Nyakagyeme Sub County, Rukungiri District.

Minister Jim Muhwezi Katugugu commended the Church for its efforts to morally guide the public and expressed deep concern over youth involvement in drug abuse and criminal acts, including the contamination of alcohol with toxic substances to facilitate sexual assault.

Venerable Ronald Natuhwera, the Archdeacon of Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry, in his sermon praised women for their unwavering faith, likening their dedication to those who watched over Jesus’ body in the tomb. He urged men to value and support women for the exceptional roles they play in homes and communities.

He further called upon Christians to support the Bishop’s thanksgiving initiative aimed at fundraising for the completion of Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano, the Kasoroza Archdeacon’s house, and the new Kasoroza Church structure. These developments are in preparation for hosting the bishop during the installation of Rev. Ronald and Jolly Natuhwera on 27th July 2025, and later the archbishop.

Venerable Natuhwera also announced the opening of registration for a mass wedding, aimed at addressing the shortage of Church leaders, which he attributed to the prevalence of illegal marriages.

Christians at the celebration cited several reasons behind the rise in illegal marriages, including lack of dowry, trust issues, carelessness, and poverty.
