The Minister of State for Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, responsible for industry and NRM Chairperson of Kabale district, Hon. David Bahati, emphasized the positive impact of intermarriage on national integration and the fight against sectarianism.

Speaking at the wedding ceremony of Niwarinda Praise and Natumanya Challotte, held at Agaba Center Kigongi in Kabale town, Hon. Bahati, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Ndorwa West in Kabale district, expressed the view that intermarriage fosters unity, cooperation, and the exchange of goods and services.

During the event, it was noted that Natumanya Challotte is the daughter of the late Geofrey Katungyi and Mrs. Friday Katungi from Nyamambo in Nyamambo sub-county, Kazo district. Niwarinda Praise is the son of Mr. Ezrah and Magret Kyomukama from Nyamiyaga Mwendo, Kitumba sub-county, Kabale district.

Hon. Bahati raised concerns about the perceived threat to traditional African marriages, stating that some individuals challenge the commonly accepted norms based on religious beliefs. He commended the couple for their commitment to a union that aligns with conventional values.

As a gesture of support and appreciation, Minister Bahati presented the newlyweds with a Fresian heifer along with an envelope. The reception party, held at Agaba Center Kigongi, attracted various guests, including political leaders and members of the business community.
