Mr. Kuteesa Edwin Kaziriri, representing the office of the president in the Ministry of Security, overseeing Kampala Metropolitan, has called on the residents of Buhunga Sub County to unite in support of Associations as a steadfast pillar for development.
During his address on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the launch of “Buhunga My Heritage,” a public Association dedicated to fostering overall development, held at Katurika Secondary School in Buhunga Sub County, Rukungiri District, Mr. Kuteesa, standing in for Minister for Security Hon Maj General Jim Muhwezi, expressed his support for the initiative. He encouraged community members to back the Association wholeheartedly, stressing that development thrives on unity, enabling effective lobbying and resource mobilization.
Nahwera Santurina, the Vice Chairperson LC5 Rukungiri District, requested Mr. Kuteesa to convey the Association’s need for a tent to shelter their gatherings to Minister Jim Muhwezi. She also urged members to actively mobilize others to ensure the Association’s growth.
Natukunda Jackline, the Vice Chairperson LC3 Buhunga Sub County, commended the vision of the initiators and urged members to provide robust support for the association’s versatile development.
Tumwebaze Alex, the Chairperson of Buhunga My Heritage, disclosed that the Association was founded by a few individuals on January 27, 2023, with primary objectives including building a social network, promoting welfare, empowering the community, and fostering entrepreneurship. Currently boasting 252 members, the Association has made significant strides. Hon Maj General Jim Muhwezi contributed 1 million, and Dr. Alex Kamugisha, the former Minister for Health who originates from the area, contributed 200,000/= to support the cause.
