Police in Mbarara District have apprehended a 27-year-old man accused of masquerading as a woman for the past two years.
The suspect, identified as Justus Ainembabazi from Rwampara District, was arrested in Kagongi Sub-County, where he had been working as a barmaid.
The arrest followed complaints from local residents, prompting local leaders to alert authorities about Ainembabazi’s suspicious behavior.
Mbarara District Police Commander (DPC), SP Esther Kayema, confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect had been using the alias Keitesi Nyakato while posing as a woman to attract men.
Ainembabazi is currently detained at Kagongi Police Station and is facing charges of impersonation. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
