Authorities in Kabale District are currently in pursuit of 1.8 Billion Shillings to kickstart the construction of a modern Outpatient Department (OPD) Unit at Maziba Health Centre IV in Maziba Sub County.
Dr. Gilbert Arinaitwe Mateeka, the Kabale District Health Officer, informed our reporter today that the current OPD at Maziba Health Centre IV is both deteriorating and inadequately sized, particularly given the daily influx of patients. Dr. Mateeka highlighted that, out of the required 1.8 Billion Shillings, the district has already allocated 400 million to initiate the construction of the OPD.
At the official launch of the construction of four twin staff houses at Maziba Health Centre IV on Monday, Wilfred Niwagaba, the Member of Parliament for Ndorwa East County, pledged to persist in securing additional funds from the government. His goal is to ensure the realization of a state-of-the-art OPD at the facility.
Established in the 1990s, the Health Centre serves a population exceeding 80,000 individuals from Ndorwa East County and neighboring areas, including Rwanda.
