Plaxeda Atwiine, a resident of Kagarama town council in Ntungamo district, is seeking justice as she accuses Kigezi Highland tea factory Kabale branch of withholding her payment for the firewood she supplied in August 2023.

Allegedly, the company manager, Mr. Sosi Mugane, convinced her to provide firewood, which she did after obtaining a loan from a financial institution and hiring machine personnel to cut the wood as per agreed measurements of 1 inch per piece.

Plaxeda claims that despite fulfilling her part of the agreement, she has not received any payment from the company. The situation has led her to abandon her home due to her inability to repay the loan used to acquire the firewood. Attempts to contact the company manager have reportedly been futile as he does not respond to calls.

During a phone interview with our reporter, Kigezi Highland tea factory Manager in Kabale Mr. Sosi Mubene admitted that Plaxeda supplied firewood worth 3.9 million, and she has yet to be compensated.

Sosi disclosed that other individuals from Kabale, Kisoro, and neighboring districts also provided firewood on credit. He assured that the company is committed to settling all outstanding payments soon and urged affected parties to remain patient.
