Police in Rukungiri District are investigating circumstances under which
Tushabomwe Joseph in his early 30s killed his wife Ainembabazi Priscilla 21
years old on Sunday night.
Tushabomwe Joseph and Ainembabazi Priscilla are residents of Karyamacumu cell,
Kikongi Parish, Bwambara Sub County, Rukungiri District.
According to residents, Tushabomwe Joseph was known to have a record of being a
mentally unstable member of society who was once admitted for mental illness, in
addition to being an alcohol addict.
Police were tipped by relatives who responded to the cry of the children who
cried loudly after their father hit the deceased with the big stick and took
off.
After committing the crime, Tushabomwe Joseph who is currently detained at
Bikurungu Police post, went and reported himself to the Kigongi trading center
chairperson who engaged the police.
By press time, police had not released a comment.
