Police in Bushenyi District are currently investigating a case involving the tragic death of a middle-aged man during a village altercation. According to Macial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the greater Bushenyi police, the deceased has been identified as Dezi Nuwabine, a resident of Nyakahandagazi Village in Nyarugote Parish, Nyabubare sub-county.
Tumusiime stated that the suspected perpetrator, known as Kakonkoma and also a resident of the same village, allegedly assaulted Nuwabine on April 8, 2024. The incident occurred when Nuwabine intervened to break up a fight among a group of boys. Kakonkoma, who was not initially involved in the altercation, reportedly struck Nuwabine with a large stick, causing him serious head injuries.
Despite being rushed to Kampala International Teaching Hospital for treatment, Nuwabine succumbed to his injuries. Tumusiime noted that Kakonkoma remains at large since the incident, prompting the police to launch a manhunt for the suspect.
