The police in Mbarara City Central Division are currently investigating a sodomy case involving a 22-year-old male resident of Kisenyi cell in Kakoba ward, Mbarara City.
The suspected perpetrator is Mr. Tumushabe Nelson, a male adult who works as a businessman in Mbarara Central Market.
The allegations suggest that the suspect lured the victim by offering him a job on the night of 10/10/2023 at 01:00 AM. On the previous evening, around 7:30 PM on 09/10/2023, the victim, who was searching for employment in Mbarara City, encountered the suspect at Mailo two on Masaka Road. The suspect engaged the victim in conversation, inquiring about his activities in Mbarara City.
The victim shared his job-seeking intentions, and the suspect promised to provide him with a job opportunity.
Subsequently, the suspect took the victim to his residence in the same area. In the early hours of 10/10/2023, around 01:00 AM, the suspect turned against the victim, threatening him and sexually assaulting him through anal intercourse.
The following morning, the suspect took the victim for breakfast, and later, while at Mbarara Central Market where he works, informed the victim that it would be difficult to employ him due to his lack of a national identity card. Consequently, the victim reported the incident to the police.
A team of investigators conducted a medical examination on the victim, revealing evidence of inflammation and signs of sexual assault, which ultimately led to the arrest of the suspect.
Following this, the investigative team went to the location of the incident and thoroughly documented the scene.
During their search, they discovered several tangible items as evidence, including 22 water-based personal lubricants, 52 condoms, 19 HIV testing kit strips, and 2 containers of antiretroviral drugs (ARVs).
Inquiries into this case are currently ongoing.
