Isingiro District Woman Member of Parliament, Clare Mugumya, has called on the Office of the Prime Minister to expedite the rescue efforts for hundreds of individuals in Ngarama and Mbaale Sub-counties who find themselves stranded after their homes and agricultural fields were devastated by recent heavy rains.

In a parliamentary address, Mugumya disclosed that the rainfall, which included hailstorms, resulted in the destruction of more than eighteen residential houses and numerous hectares of crops in the affected area.

She also lamented that several churches, such as Kagaaga Catholic Church, Kagaaga Pentecostal Church, and Burungamo Pentecostal Church, were severely affected by the deluge.

Furthermore, the Women’s representative urged the Office of the Prime Minister to provide crucial support to the affected regions, including the distribution of early-maturing seeds and seedlings to those whose crops were severely impacted.

In response to this issue, Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, acting on behalf of the Government Chief Whip, assured that efforts would be made to collaborate with the Office of the Prime Minister to ensure that relief assistance is promptly dispatched to Isingiro.
