Police at Bwongyera Police Post in Nyamunuka Town Council, Ntungamo District, are currently detaining Kabugombe Charles, aged in his 50s, on suspicion of malicious damage.

Charles, a resident of Kitojo Cell, Kitojo Parish, Bwongyera Sub County, Ntungamo District, stands accused of trespassing on the property of his biological brother, Tindyebwa George, and causing damage. The allegations include throwing stones at George’s house, as well as cutting down banana and coffee plants in his garden.

The complaint lodged against Charles states that on the night of Monday, February 26, 2024, around 10 p.m., he forcefully entered Tindyebwa George’s residence, damaging property and destroying crops. The estimated loss resulting from this incident is valued at approximately 1 million.

On the morning of Tuesday, February 27, 2024, Tindyebwa George and his family reported the incident to Bwongyera Police Post, leading to the arrest of Kabugombe Charles pending further investigation. The case has been registered under File Number 07/26/02/2024.

Sylvia Tindyebwa, who disclosed that this was the second consecutive incident of its kind, expressed concern for her safety and emphasized that the situation seemed motivated by malice, particularly highlighting her diligent work ethic.

Mujuruzi Bernard, the Chairperson of LC1 Kitojo Cell, condemned the actions attributed to Charles, stating that they are detrimental to the development and future well-being of the families involved. He stressed the importance of setting an example in such cases.

According to Afande Godfrey Tiwangye, the Officer-in-Charge of Bwongyera Police Post, Kabugombe Charles had previously reported his grievances at the post on Monday, February 26, 2024. However, he became involved in the subsequent incident upon returning home. Tiwangye mentioned that although Charles expressed a desire for reconciliation, he would be transferred to Ntungamo Central Police Station due to the seriousness of the charges against him.
