Last night, 96 pilgrims from the Makiro Catholic Deanery in Kanungu District were welcomed at Nyakibale Catholic Parish in the Eastern Division of Rukungiri Municipality, Rukungiri District. They were on their pilgrimage journey and continued this morning.

In his sermon during the welcoming mass, Rev. Father Januario Ndyanabangi, Assistant Priest at Nyakibale Catholic Parish, encouraged the pilgrims to stay strong in their journey of honoring the martyrs, assuring them of success because God is with them.

Turyagyenda Silver, Chairperson of Makiro Catholic Parish Pilgrims, confirmed that their journey was going well and that they were determined to honor the reputation of the pilgrims and the Church.

Kobusingye Santurina, participating in her eighth pilgrimage, expressed her enthusiasm to complete the journey with strength, inspired by the sacrifices made by past pilgrims and seeking continuous blessings.

Musimenta Scorah Gaetano Owebigyerebye, on her ninth pilgrimage and Secretary of Nyakibale Catholic Parish Pilgrims, shared their plans to gather at the Parish this evening for preparations and prayers, and then set off after the morning mass tomorrow.

She invited people to join in large numbers to emulate the sacrifices made by the pilgrims and to become strong servants of God and the Church.

Pilgrims from Nyakibale Catholic Parish and St. Peter’s Buyanja Catholic Parish Katojo will set off tomorrow, staying overnight at Kagamba Catholic Parish, Yesu Ahurire Center, and Uganda Martyrs Mbarara as they continue their journey.
