On Friday, Mushanga SACCO Limited, situated in Bushenyi district, generously rewarded its participating members in the EKITEREKYE KYA CHRISTMAS 2023 initiative. Natukunda Gorden, the SACCO general manager, shared that they distributed a diverse array of gifts, including 56 cows, 167 goats, 263 hens, soap, and umbrellas.
Gorden highlighted the improvement in this year’s EKITEREKYE compared to the previous one. He noted a rise in the number of participants, with 453 members saving a total of 6.8 billion Ugandan Shillings in the span of two months, surpassing last year’s 397 members who saved 4 billion Shillings.
Gerevaz Bafaki emphasized that Mushanga SACCO consistently organizes the EKITEREKYE program, spanning two months, urging customers to save beyond their usual amounts. He expressed gratitude to the Ugandan government for enabling the operation of SACCOs, attributing them to fostering development.
Bafaki clarified that the program’s primary goal is to give back to customers by encouraging increased savings and gifting them items that bring joy during the Christmas season.
The Kabwohe branch emerged as the top performer in the program, saving 1.56 billion Shillings during the two-month period and distributing 9 cows.
Members who benefited from the program praised Mushanga SACCO for their commitment to giving back, stating that EKITEREKYE motivates them to work harder, contributing to overall development.
Maanige Wenceslas, the Director of Broad Educational Consult, emerged as a recipient of a cow and additional gifts in recognition of being honored as the top saver among the gift winners.
