There was deep grief and sorrow in Bunenwa Village, Kitoojo Parish, Kakanju Sub-county, Bushenyi District, during the burial of a six-year-old girl who was tragically struck by lightning.

Grace Natuhwera, a Primary One pupil at Nyampikye Primary School, was struck by lightning on Tuesday evening at around 5:00 PM while returning home from school.

Speaking to the mourners, her father, Richard Tumuramye, expressed his devastation, saying the family and the entire community had lost a young girl with a bright future ahead. He described the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy.

In response to the tragedy, Cohen Amanya Kyampene donated a lightning arrester to Nyampikye Primary School, aimed at helping to prevent such incidents in the future.

Kakanju Sub-county LCIII Chairperson, Lauben Kananga, described the incident as a shocking loss to the community and urged residents to remain focused on developmental initiatives to secure a better future.
