Angello Kurinamanyire Kabanza, a 60-year-old widower and resident of Katungu Village, Northern Ward, Kebisoni Town Council in Rukungiri District, has expressed dissatisfaction with the police, accusing them of denying him justice.

Kabanza claims that on the night of March 30th, 2025, at around 10 p.m., his neighbor and LC1 Chairperson, Steven Nuwagaba Biganja, stormed his home while his children were asleep. Upon being received, Biganja allegedly assaulted Kabanza’s 12-year-old son, Aloysius Nahurira, a Primary Five pupil under the care of Kakinga Child Development Center.

The following day, March 31st, Kabanza reported the incident to Kebisoni Town Council Police Station under file number SD REF 07/31/03/2025. He submitted all required evidence, but the suspect has yet to be apprehended.

Kabanza further noted that he has made several follow-ups at Kebisoni Police Station and was later referred to Rukungiri Central Police Station, where he found his file but no progress has been made.

He explained that the incident stemmed from allegations that his son stole a robot radio. However, it later emerged that the radio had been mishandled and hidden by the suspect’s children after it was damaged, and the herdsman had only interacted with the boy in the bush.

Kabanza has rejected any attempts at mediation or reconciliation in the absence of the suspect, insisting that the matter be handled in court.

Meanwhile, the victim, Aloysius Nahurira, shared his distress, stating that the incident has affected his education and that he still experiences pain while standing or walking, despite receiving treatment at North Kigezi Health Center IV in Rugarama.

Surgent Ongodia Gilbert, Officer in Charge of Kebisoni Town Council Police Station, stated that the case had been referred to his superiors for further handling.

Rukungiri District Police Commander, SSP Kyangungu Appolo, urged complainants to follow up with his office directly and explained that the delay in the case was due to the absence of public prosecutors, who are currently away on official duties.
