Residents of Kitojo Cell, Bwongyera Parish, Kajara County in Ntungamo District continue to express frustration over the poor state of social services in their area.
One resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated that since the current government took office, they have not received any essential services such as electricity, roads, and water. He added that they now regret voting, as their leaders have failed to fulfill the promises they made during their campaigns.
Alban Tibitu, another resident of Kitojo, emphasized that the lack of electricity is their biggest challenge. He noted that most parts of Bwongyera remain without power, forcing residents to travel long distances for essential services like hair salons, milling machines, and other electricity-dependent businesses. Instead, they rely on solar power and batteries, which are insufficient for their needs.
Tibitu further explained that while they would like to raise these concerns with their leaders through meetings and sensitization programs, such engagements rarely take place in their area.
Bwongyera LC3 Chairperson Francis Bamanyire acknowledged the poor state of social services, including roads, electricity, and water. He explained that he has repeatedly submitted requests to higher authorities, who have assured him that these challenges will be addressed. He urged residents to remain patient, as government programs take time to be implemented.
Bamanyire also highlighted that the lack of electricity is hindering development in the area. He pointed out that residents cannot establish businesses requiring computers, such as SACCOs, which limits economic growth
