A group of parents from Kisoro District has expressed mixed reactions to Education and Sports Minister Janet Museveni’s suggestion that parents send their children to school with at least two eggs and a bottle of milk.

The First Lady made this recommendation during the closing of the Buganda Mothers Union 2024 conference in Luweero, where President Museveni accompanied her. She stressed that mothers play a crucial role in ensuring their children have nutritious lunches.

However, Vicent Mushakambo, Chairman of the Kisoro District Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and a parent, criticized the suggestion, stating that it reflects a disconnect from the economic hardships many Ugandans face. He added that the current leadership is out of touch with reality, leaving many citizens unable to afford necessities like food.

Wilson Kazimire, a District Councilor for Chahi Sub County and also a parent, recognized the importance of parents providing lunch for their children but argued that it doesn’t need to be specifically eggs and milk. He suggested that parents should focus on giving their children any nutritious food they can afford.
