The authorities at Kihumuro Primary School in Kyamakanda Parish, Buyanja Sub County, Rukungiri District, have voiced concerns regarding the insufficient infrastructure at their school, which they believe is hampering the school’s performance.

During a thanksgiving mass held at Kihumuro Catholic Church to raise funds for the construction of a 3-classroom block at the school, the head teacher, Mrs. Goret Tuhiirwe, highlighted that the lack of adequate space is hindering efforts to improve academic standards. She mentioned plans to establish a boarding section, particularly for P.7 students, but the shortage of buildings consistently obstructs this initiative.

Mrs. Tuhiirwe appealed to parents, alumni, and the government to collaborate in enhancing infrastructure in government schools.

Among the attendees was Lilian Maanige, representing former Rubabo County MP, Honourable Mary Paula Turyahikayo, who urged parents to actively support their children’s education by participating in construction projects, hiring additional teachers to address shortages, and ensuring proper nutrition for their children.

In his sermon, Reverend Father Conrad Atuhaire of Nyakibare Parish stressed the importance of education as the most enduring gift parents can give their children. He emphasized parents’ responsibility to construct buildings, address teacher shortages, and provide necessary resources for their children’s education.

A total of UGX 6,864,899 was collected to support the construction work.
