As schools resume their operations, authorities in the Kigezi sub-region have issued a warning to parents, guardians, and caretakers, advising them against allowing children, particularly those under 12 years old, to go to school unaccompanied.

Elly Maate, the spokesperson for the police in the Kigezi region, emphasized the need for parents and caretakers to ensure the safety of learners as they return to school. Maate also emphasized that boda boda riders found without helmets and transporting more than two children would face arrest and charges.

Maate further urged all motorists to adhere to traffic regulations to reduce road congestion and prevent accidents. He cautioned drivers against speeding, driving under the influence, overtaking on dangerous bends, and using mobile phones while driving, highlighting the potential risks these actions pose.
