The Council of Kebisoni Sub County, Rukungiri District, convened on Thursday, March 28th, 2024, and unanimously approved the budget estimates for the 2024/2025 financial year, totaling 62,211,709 Ugandan shillings.

Byaruhanga George Ruraka, the Councilor representing the elderly and serving as the Chairperson of Finance, presented the budget estimates. He emphasized prioritizing road development due to a reduction in the road fund allocation at the District level. Specifically, he highlighted the importance of improving the Kiigiro – Seed School and Ahamuhambo – Seed School roads, which connect to Omuribiri trading center.

During the session, the Council resolved to initiate a program to name Sub County roads after individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of the area. This initiative aims to generate additional revenue for the Sub County.

Prospective applicants interested in naming a road are required to pay a non-refundable fee of 50,000/= for application and an additional 150,000/= for the rights to name the specified road.

Kahanyi Charles, the Chairperson of the LC3 in Kebisoni Sub County, reiterated the intention behind naming the roads, emphasizing the need for descriptive road names to enhance the area’s identity and generate revenue.

Benson Nahwera, the Councilor representing Garubunda Parish and also serving as the speaker, emphasized the aesthetic improvement of the roads, suggesting that the revenue generated could complement government efforts in road maintenance.
