A maternity ward worth UGX 666 M was on Friday commissioned at Kasheshe health center 3 in Buyanja sub-county Rukungiri District .

The construction of the maternity ward began in 2021 and was undertaken by SAGMA technical services.

Steven Nsubuga, the Rukungiri RDC while commissioning the project revealed that several corrections have been done on the building due to defects. He said that he validated the project twice for commissioning but owing to defects he postponed the exercise.

While commissioning the project, Nsubuga said that Nurses have developed a habit of abusing patients noting that they recently arrested a nurse at Rwamawa health center for making herself busy on Whatsapp while patients were suffering.

He threatened to arrest all those who have the same habit.

Agaba Emmy Rubondo, the LC3 Chairperson for Buyanja Sub County said the area will benefit from antenatal care services that are now available at the facility,

Geoffrey Kyomukama, the Rukungiri district Lc5 chairperson revealed that the facility will soon receive equipment worth UGX 178M to boost service delivery.

The function was also attended by James Turyamubona, the Rukungiri district speaker, Councilor Mwesigwa Mathias, the district secretary for health, among others.
