It was an emotional day at St. Luke Church of Uganda, Karukaata Parish in Rubirizi Archdeaconry, North Kigezi Diocese, as Christians bid farewell to their outgoing Rev. Justus Otafiire.
Rev. Otafiire has been transferred to Nyarurambi Parish in Nyakishenyi, where he will be officially installed on December 1, 2024.
After serving faithfully for eight years at Karukaata, Rev. Otafiire will be succeeded by Rev. Francis Tugumenaawe.
Charles Nyeshija, the Head of Laity at Karukaata Church, praised Rev. Otafiire for his impactful sermons, transparency, and developmental efforts, greatly benefiting the parish. He wished both the outgoing and incoming priests success in their new roles and encouraged Christians to continue supporting them.
As a token of appreciation for his dedication and service, Christians at Karukaata Parish gifted Rev. Otafiire a car.
Rev. Francis Tugumenaawe, the incoming priest, commended Rev. Otafiire for bringing stability and development to the parish during his tenure. He urged the congregation to emulate Rev. Otafiire’s exemplary character and expressed his readiness to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor. He called on Christians to unite with him to further develop the church.
In his farewell speech, Rev. Justus Otafiire expressed gratitude to the Christians of Karukaata for their overwhelming support during his service. He admitted that leaving Karukaata was difficult for him but prayed for strength and assured the congregation that he would remain their ambassador wherever he goes.
Rev. Otafiire also thanked the Christians for the love they had shown him upon his arrival and once again as he departed. He particularly appreciated the car gifted to him, emphasizing that he did not take such gestures for granted. He wished them God’s blessings and encouraged them to extend the same love and cooperation to Rev. Tugumenaawe.
