Hon. Dr. Lion Elisa Rutahigwa, the Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament, has announced the imminent opening of the Rukungiri Health Center IV theater located at Rwamahwa in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.

Dr. Rutahigwa made the remarks today, Sunday, 24th November 2024, while officiating at a thanksgiving mass organized by the Nyakibale Catholic Women Association during the celebrations of Jesus Christ the King at Nyakibale Catholic Parish, Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.

The Thanksgiving event was aimed at supporting the reconstruction of the Old Church, which was recently destroyed by a hailstorm.

Dr. Rutahigwa highlighted ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Health to supply theater equipment, which is expected to arrive soon. He assured the community of the imminent opening of the theater and emphasized the progressive construction of the maternity wing as part of the initial phase of establishing a district hospital.

In his address, Dr. Rutahigwa urged voters to prioritize electing leaders with a proven track record in public service delivery over those who rely on empty promises or bribery, which compromise effective service delivery. He also asked the electorate to grant him one final term in office.

Rev. Father Conrad Atuhaire, the Nyakibale Catholic Parish Priest, in his homily, called upon Christians to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ, emphasizing humility, faithfulness, and a commitment to the path leading to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Annah Bandonda, the Chairperson of the Nyakibale Catholic Women’s Association, expressed gratitude for the successful Thanksgiving event. She noted that the event was organized to show appreciation and support for the Church’s services and guidance.

The Thanksgiving raised a total of UGX 4,930,000, with Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa pledging an additional UGX 2,000,000 to support the reconstruction efforts.
